We attended to All-Energy exhibition and conference 2019 in Glasgow. It is interesting to find the great effort the Scotland government has done. Throughout the conference, we experienced quite some informative sessions.
From the talk during the conference, we are very impressed by the commitment of their government toward environmental impact reduction. Though Glasgow may not be a very big international city, it thrives on its green economy. ‘Glasgow is leading a green revolution.’ As mentioned by the provost of City of Glasgow Eva Bolander. Susan Aitken from Glasgow City Council showed the commitment of their City to accelerate the atonement of carbon sins. The Scotland government has been investing to improve residential energy efficiency over 2 decades. The total investment is around 8 billion. Though the benefit may not show in the short term. It is expected to improve the GDP as well as offering sustained jobs over the long term.
From a national perspective, CEO of CCC Chris Stark argued: “The UK should legislate for net zero targets.” While many people feel quite passive in climate change, Chris stated that he is still hopeful and optimistic we can achieve it. This movement needs the courage from politicians and determination from industry”
A very clear message is that unless we end climate change, it will end up destroying the economy and our society. Hence the Glasgow and the Scotland government are working hard on it. We need o shift attention to consider the business activities and investment can unlock, sustain, and potentially increase value generation.
